HISTORY
OF ESTABLISHMENT AND LEGAL STATUS
Prison
Fellowship Ethiopia (PFE)
is indigenous non-profit making, non political,non-governmental organization
established by a group of innovative volunteers in 1992.The Ministry of
Justice (MOJ) Department
for Registration of Associations registered PFE
as a Non-Profit Making, non-governmental Organization. It works very closely
with the Federal and Regional Prison Administration. Since its inception,
it has intervened meaningfully in numerous prisons all over the country.
PFE uses holistic strategy to reach the justice sectors of the country
with particular emphasis on prison system.
GOVERNANCE:
There
are Nine Boards of Directors that administer PFE. It has an Executive
Director, who is directly responsible for the overall management of the
organization. It has its head office in Addis Ababa and regional coordination
offices in the South, Southeast, Eastern, Western and Northern regions
of Ethiopia.

VISION
To see better justice and prison systems all over Ethiopia
whereby prisonersare rehabilitated, converted and ready to serve their
country once they are out of prison.
MISSION
• To change and
improve the lives of prisoners, ex-prisoners, victims and families of
prisoners
• To enhance the capacity of justice sectors for better execution
of justice and handling of prisoners to a level of accepted international
standard.
OBJECTIVE
• To improve
prison and justice system
• To increase the capacity of justice sectors and prison officials
on human right issues through appropriate trainings and workshops
• To enhance socio-economic development
• To rehabilitate and reintegrate prisoners, ex-prisoners, victims
and their families
• To expand mother and child focused project
